Egypt’s Ministry of Supply Urges Consumers to Buy from Trusted Sources Following Juice Violations
The Egyptian Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade has issued guidance to consumers regarding the purchase of juices and food beverages. This advisory comes in response to recent inspections targeting sugarcane juice vendors, where it was discovered that some were using titanium dioxide illegally.
These inspections led to the identification of several violations related to the use of titanium dioxide, which alters the properties and appearance of sugarcane juice in violation of established regulations. This initiative is part of the ministry’s broader efforts to combat commercial fraud and ensure the integrity of food products.
The ministry recommends that consumers only buy from licensed and reputable establishments that adhere to health standards, while avoiding juices with unnatural colors or excessively bright appearances.
Additionally, consumers are urged to verify general cleanliness and the safety of food preparation and handling tools. They should report any practices or food products suspected of not meeting approved standards or specifications, emphasizing the importance of purchasing food items from trusted sources to safeguard public health.
The ministry reiterated its commitment to ongoing regulatory campaigns in coordination with relevant authorities, vowing not to tolerate violations and ensuring legal actions are taken against offenders. This is aimed at protecting citizens, maintaining order in markets, and ensuring food safety.
