Burnley Competes with NYCFC for Cameroon International Frank Magri
Burnley FC is reportedly in the running to sign striker Frank Magri, competing with New York City FC as the summer transfer window approaches.
After finishing 19th in the 2025-26 Premier League, 19 points adrift of safety, the Clarets are gearing up for another challenging season in the Championship.
The Lancashire club ended their disappointing season with a 1-1 draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers, a match that ultimately had no bearing on either team’s fortunes.
Burnley’s relegation was anticipated after last year’s summer transfer window closed, leaving former head coach Scott Parker without the necessary squad depth to mount a serious survival challenge. Parker departed from his role at Turf Moor on April 30, with Mike Jackson stepping in as interim manager but managing only two points from four Premier League matches.

Clarets Targeting International Striker
French outlet Foot Mercato reports that Burnley is eyeing a move for Frank Magri, a former Toulouse striker who is now a free agent after his contract with Les Violets expired.
The report indicates that several MLS clubs are interested in acquiring the 26-year-old forward, who has made 20 appearances for the Cameroon national team since his debut in October 2023.
New York City FC appears to be leading the chase for Magri’s signature, having submitted an offer to him that he has yet to accept or decline.
The player is also attracting attention from Germany, where Schalke 04 is preparing to return to top-flight football after gaining promotion from Bundesliga 2 last season.
During his last season at Toulouse, Magri scored five goals in 17 Ligue 1 matches but did not play for Les Violets after February due to his decision not to extend his contract at Stadium de Toulouse.

Magri’s Potential Impact in the Championship
Having scored five goals in each of the last three Ligue 1 seasons, Magri has established himself as a capable striker since emerging at SC Bastia during the 2022-23 season.
The Clarets are likely hoping that Magri can make a significant impact in the English Championship, where they will require additional attacking options for the demanding 46-match season ahead.
The club’s league fixture list will be announced on June 25, revealing upcoming matches against teams like Lincoln City and Bolton Wanderers.
