The Spanish national team, under the guidance of coach Luis de la Fuente, is entering a period of optimism ahead of their campaign in the 2026 World Cup. This comes as young talents Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams are nearing full fitness ahead of their opening match against Cape Verde.

According to Spanish radio station Cadena SER, both players are physically prepared, although their starting roles remain under consideration. It is anticipated that they may begin the match on the bench, with the final decision resting on the coach’s assessment of the game’s progress.

The report indicates that Lamine Yamal has fully recovered from a hamstring injury sustained while playing for Barcelona and is eager to make his debut in the tournament. His determination to start is driven by a strong desire to contribute from the outset.

Nico Williams is also close to regaining his complete fitness after overcoming a hamstring injury incurred while with Athletic Bilbao. His return bolsters Spain’s attacking options as they head into the World Cup.

Spain will kick off their tournament campaign against Cape Verde next Monday in Group H, which also includes Saudi Arabia and Uruguay.
