Complete Closure of Qasr El Nile Bridge for 18 Hours with Alternative Routes Provided
The Cairo Traffic Authority has announced a complete closure of the Qasr El Nile Bridge in the direction coming from the islands of Gezira and Jalaa towards Tahrir Square. This closure will take effect from 8 PM on Thursday, June 11, until 2 PM on Friday, June 12, 2026, to carry out routine maintenance work on the metal bridge.
According to the traffic statement, the closure will affect the route coming from Gezira Square heading towards Tahrir Square. Necessary traffic diversions will be implemented during the maintenance period. The entrance to Qasr El Nile Bridge from Gezira Square will be closed, with vehicles directed left onto Gezira Street, then onto the October Bridge ramp towards downtown areas, ultimately reaching the Abdel Moneim Riad Square exit.
The maintenance work is set to commence as a first phase starting at 8 PM on Thursday, June 11, and concluding at 2 PM on Friday, June 12, 2026.
The Cairo Traffic Authority confirmed that traffic services will be deployed around the work area in coordination with the executing companies. They will also install technical aids and all necessary signage indicating ongoing work on the road to ensure public safety and smooth traffic flow without disruptions.
