Cairo’s Qasr El-Nil Bridge to Close for Maintenance with Traffic Diversions Announced
The General Administration of Traffic in Cairo has announced a series of measures to manage expected traffic congestion as maintenance work begins on the Qasr El-Nil Bridge.
The administration indicated that the initial phase of the maintenance will require a complete closure of one direction of the bridge, specifically affecting traffic from Midan Al-Jazeera to Midan Tahrir. Alternative traffic routes have been established as follows:.
The entrance to Qasr El-Nil Bridge from Al-Jazeera Square will be closed, redirecting vehicles left towards Al-Jazeera Street. Drivers will then ascend onto October Bridge, heading towards central city areas, ultimately reaching the exit of October Bridge leading to Martyr Abdel Moneim Riad Square.
This phase of work is set to commence at 8 PM on Thursday, June 11, 2026, and will continue until 2 PM the following day, Friday, June 12, 2026.
Additionally, the General Administration of Traffic has coordinated with the project execution companies to enhance the area by deploying technical assistance and necessary signage and warning lights around the work zone. This is aimed at ensuring public safety and preventing congestion during the closure period.
