Egypt’s Foreign and Religious Affairs Ministries Expand Cooperation on Enlightened Religious Discourse
Minister of Foreign Affairs Receives Minister of Religious Endowments.
On Wednesday, Dr. Badr Abdel-Aty, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, welcomed Dr. Osama Al-Azhari, the Minister of Religious Endowments, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to discuss ways to enhance cooperation between the two ministries.
During the meeting, both officials exchanged views on strengthening coordination to highlight Egypt’s leading role in promoting values of tolerance, coexistence, and enlightened religious discourse, reflecting Egypt’s esteemed position at both regional and international levels.
Minister Abdel-Aty emphasized the importance of continued collaboration between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Religious Endowments to support Egypt’s efforts in countering extremist ideologies and correcting misconceptions, while promoting a culture of peace and mutual coexistence. He noted the significant appreciation for Egypt’s experience in this domain.
The ministers also discussed supporting the dispatch of religious leaders from the Ministry of Religious Endowments abroad to carry out missionary work and spread enlightened Islamic culture. Additionally, they addressed organizing training courses for imams and preachers from various countries to help disseminate moderate thought and reinforce values of tolerance and coexistence.
For his part, Dr. Osama Al-Azhari praised the existing collaboration between the two ministries, underscoring the need for continued joint efforts to enhance Egypt’s intellectual and cultural presence internationally, as well as support initiatives aimed at promoting values of tolerance, dialogue, and understanding among nations.
