Al Ahly to Earn Millions Following Barcelona’s Purchase of Hamza Abdel Karim

Written byFerdous Saeed

On Wednesday evening, Spanish club FC Barcelona officially activated the purchase clause for young Egyptian striker Hamza Abdel Karim from Al Ahly. This move comes after the player showcased impressive performances in recent matches.

Hamza Abdel Karim initially joined Barcelona on a six-month loan during the last winter transfer window.

During his time with the Catalan club, he excelled in Spain, scoring six goals in just eight matches and leading the youth team to the final of the Spanish Champions League.

Financial Gains for Al Ahly from Barcelona’s Purchase

As per the agreement between the two clubs, Al Ahly will receive €1.5 million for the permanent transfer of Abdel Karim, with payments scheduled in two installments according to a mutually agreed timeline.

Following Barcelona’s activation of the purchase clause, Al Ahly stands to gain between €3 million and €5 million based on the player’s appearances and goals for both the first team and reserves.

The management at Al Ahly has successfully secured its future rights by including a clause that grants them 15% of any future transfer fee should the player be sold to another club. This ensures additional financial returns if Abdel Karim continues to shine and increases his market value throughout his professional career.

The activation of this purchase clause follows significant attention from the first team’s coaching staff, led by Hans Flick, who expressed admiration for Abdel Karim’s talents and plans to include him in preparations for the new season after he concludes his participation with Egypt at the 2026 World Cup.
