Aliou Dieng Leaves Al Ahly After Seven Successful Years
The journey of Malian international Aliou Dieng with Al Ahly has come to an end as the 2025-2026 season concludes. The team finished third in the Egyptian Premier League, paving the way for Dieng to embark on a new professional adventure in Spain with Valencia.
Dieng’s future was finalized recently after his contract with Al Ahly expired, allowing him to transition to the Spanish side in what marks a significant step in his career.
16 Titles and an Impressive Record
The 28-year-old midfielder joined Al Ahly in the summer of 2019 from Algerian club Mouloudia for a fee of €1.1 million, beginning a lengthy tenure with the Egyptian giants.
During his time at Al Ahly, Dieng made 249 appearances across all competitions, scoring eight goals and providing 11 assists, contributing to a total of 19 goal involvements.
He has been instrumental in one of the most successful midfield careers at Al Ahly in recent years, helping the team secure 16 titles. This includes three Egyptian Premier League championships, three Egypt Cups, four CAF Champions League titles, one Egyptian Super Cup, two CAF Super Cup titles, and participation in winning the bronze medal at the FIFA Club World Cup on three occasions.
Dieng had fallen out of favor with head coach Marcel Koller during the summer of 2024 and subsequently moved on loan to Saudi club Al Khaleej for €505,000, as Koller expressed reservations about his continued presence on the squad at that time.
In terms of market value, Dieng’s worth has seen a significant increase from €800,000 when he joined Al Ahly to a peak of €4.5 million in summer 2023. His current market value is approximately €3 million according to Transfermarkt.
