President Sisi Signs Law Extending Current Labor Union Terms
President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has officially signed Law No. 74 of 2026, which extends the current term of elected labor union boards. This law was approved by the House of Representatives.
According to the law published in the official gazette, the current labor union term for elected boards will be extended for six months starting from the end date of the current term. Elections for new union boards must be called at least 60 days before the end of this extension period, in accordance with the provisions and regulations outlined in the Labor Union Organizations and Protection of Trade Union Rights Law No. 213 of 2017.
