Minister of Awqaf Discusses Urgent Solutions for Abdul Manaan Endowment Issues
Dr. Osama Al-Azhari, the Minister of Awqaf, visited the House of Representatives to meet with the Constitutional and Legislative Affairs Committee. This meeting was in response to the committee’s invitation to discuss the efforts of the Awqaf Authority regarding the endowment of Prince Mustafa Abdul Manaan, which spans several governorates.
The meeting was chaired by Counselor Mohamed Eid Mahgoub, with the presence of Counselor Alaa El-Din Fouad, Vice Chairman of the Committee, Counselor Taher El-Khouli, also a Vice Chairman, and Counselor Hany Hanna, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, along with a significant number of members from the House.
Representing the Ministry of Awqaf were Major General Wiam Abdullah Suwailem, Assistant Minister for Awqaf Authority Affairs; Rafiq Al-Qadi, Head of the Central Administration for Ministerial Affairs; Dr. Ahmed Abdel Raouf, Head of the Central Administration for Charity and Endowments; Dr. Hisham Abdel Aziz, Head of Political Communication Group at the ministry; Dr. Khaled Al-Tayeb, Chairman of the Awqaf Authority; Counselor Galal El-Din Abdel Aati, Legal Advisor to the ministry; Counselor Mostafa Salam, Legal Advisor to the authority; and Khaled Abu Dalal, Director General of Political Communication at the Ministry.
At the beginning of the meeting, attendees exchanged congratulations on the occasion of the new Hijri year. The committee then reviewed actions taken regarding the endowment in question and discussed its legal and Shari’ah regulations as well as various aspects related to relevant publications and documents.
The Minister emphasized that his ministry is committed to balancing the protection of citizens’ rights while safeguarding and developing endowment assets. He noted that the Egyptian state is addressing this issue with urgency to find immediate and comprehensive solutions for reconciliation matters and property registration issues to ease burdens on citizens. Additionally, he mentioned that alternative land will be provided by the state to compensate for any endowment rights preserved.
Furthermore, he stated that protecting Egyptians’ interests is fundamental to what drives the Awqaf Authority’s actions. The authority is dedicated to preserving endowment wealth and promoting its growth without infringing on citizens’ rights or interests—all in accordance with constitutional and legal provisions.
Committee members underscored the importance of ongoing coordination and collaboration between the ministry and parliament to bolster state efforts in protecting endowments. They emphasized maximizing benefits from these assets and developing resources to serve society while respecting citizens’ interests and established legal standings.
