Dr. Ahmed Mustafa, the head of the General Authority for Health Insurance, held an extensive meeting via video conference to assess the performance of branches and hospitals, attended by authority leaders and branch and hospital managers.

This meeting aligns with directives from Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population, aimed at enhancing regular communication to support decision-making and alleviate challenges, ensuring the continuous provision of health services with high efficiency and quality.

Dr. Mustafa noted that these meetings are part of ongoing monitoring of performance indicators, identifying challenges on the ground, and working to resolve them to improve the quality of medical services provided to citizens.

The meeting featured a detailed review of key performance indicators, including operational status with third parties, debt levels, claims automation progress, shortages in medications and supplies, pharmaceutical dispensing rates, surgical waiting lists, postponement rates, average lengths of stay, and accreditation status. These were analyzed through comparative assessments against previous periods to aid decision-making and enhance operational efficiency.

Additionally, discussions included customer service performance, the application status of unified traffic lists in clinics, activation of surgical operation follow-up cards, analysis of field visit reports, as well as plans for developing emergency departments and outpatient clinics. The status of intensive care units and incubators was also reviewed alongside monitoring routine maintenance work on medical devices to ensure their readiness.

The head of the authority issued several important directives including intensifying field visits and regular inspections to ensure service quality and adherence to infection control standards. He emphasized speeding up the completion of automation processes and digital transformation while expanding home delivery services for medications. He also called for prompt payment of operational dues owed to external parties and reinforced oversight on outpatient clinic operations and medical committees.

He stressed the need for increased visits to warehouses and pharmacies to identify medication shortages and ensure sufficient strategic stock levels. Weekly performance reports should be prepared along with evaluations of security and cleaning companies’ efficiency while adhering to occupational safety standards to provide a safe environment for patients and staff.

Dr. Mustafa highlighted the importance of organizing patient flow within clinics by redistributing clinics based on demand rates. He advocated for activating automated calling systems in pharmacies and using numbered cards for appointment scheduling while implementing flexible working systems to meet various clinic needs during evening hours especially for elderly patients and those suffering from kidney issues or cancer.

He also pointed out the significance of direct communication with citizens to receive complaints promptly while fostering a culture of teamwork and integration between branches and central departments to enhance service levels and achieve beneficiary satisfaction.

This meeting is part of a series held by the General Authority for Health Insurance aimed at monitoring performance and improving health service efficiency in line with Egypt’s commitment to developing its healthcare system and enhancing citizens’ quality of life.
