Central Hospital in Qantara West Delivers 360,000 Medical Services, Says Health Authority Chief

Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Chairman of the General Authority for Health Care, announced that the Central Hospital in Qantara West, affiliated with the authority in Ismailia Governorate, has successfully provided over 360,000 medical and therapeutic services to beneficiaries of the comprehensive health insurance system. This achievement underscores the hospital’s operational efficiency and the high quality of services offered to citizens.
El-Sobky noted that the hospital operates with a total capacity of 96 beds and offers a comprehensive treatment system that includes emergency, inpatient, intensive care, cardiology, and kidney dialysis departments. It is equipped with four major operating rooms, two endoscopy rooms for gastrointestinal procedures, and ten incubators for premature infants. Additionally, it has fully equipped laboratory and radiology departments to ensure comprehensive healthcare services in line with modern medical standards.
Since joining the authority, the hospital has recorded strong performance metrics, delivering more than 38,500 outpatient services, nearly 90,000 emergency services, and over 215,000 laboratory tests and radiological examinations. Furthermore, it has conducted over 12,000 dialysis sessions and performed more than 2,750 surgical procedures. These include advanced interventions in orthopedic and vascular surgery specialties. The hospital’s readiness to handle various critical and complex cases is reflected in its internal department services for patient accommodation and intensive care units.
The Chairman highlighted that ongoing development efforts at the hospital include enhancing outpatient clinics’ efficiency and updating dialysis services while expanding various care offerings. These improvements aim to elevate service quality and response times while boosting operational efficiency within the facility to meet the needs of beneficiaries in the Western Canal region under the comprehensive health insurance system.
The total investments allocated for upgrading Qantara West Central Hospital amount to approximately 500 million Egyptian pounds as part of the government’s plan to modernize and enhance healthcare infrastructure. El-Sobky emphasized that the hospital has received accreditation from the General Authority for Health Accreditation and Control (GAHAR), an internationally recognized body that demonstrates adherence to high standards of quality and patient safety.
In conclusion, Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky reaffirmed that the General Authority for Health Care is committed to supporting and developing its health facilities while improving their operational efficiencies. This commitment aligns with achieving the objectives of the comprehensive health insurance system by providing integrated and advanced healthcare services that meet global standards while effectively addressing citizens’ needs.
It is noteworthy that Ismailia Governorate is among the first three governorates to implement the comprehensive health insurance system since its launch in 2021. The Qantara West Hospital joined the General Authority for Health Care as part of facilities offering these services at the end of 2024.
