Raul Jimenez Set to Rejoin Wolverhampton Wanderers Ahead of World Cup

Written byFerdous Saeed

Raul Jimenez has confirmed his return to Wolverhampton Wanderers on a free transfer, following his departure from Fulham at the end of his contract this month.

The 35-year-old striker is currently preparing to represent Mexico at the World Cup, but he expressed an eagerness to reunite with Wolves after playing against them last month at Molineux.

During that match, Jimenez was warmly welcomed by Wolves supporters, which influenced his decision to consider a return to the club.

Jimenez Approves Move Back to Wolves

According to sports broadcaster Ben Jacobs, Jimenez has officially agreed to rejoin Wolves after the World Cup. Reports from Express & Star journalist Liam Keen indicated that several Wolves staff members traveled to Mexico to finalize the deal.

Jimenez has reportedly completed a medical examination and is set to sign a two-year contract with the Championship side. His terms may mirror those of Kieran Trippier, whose transfer to Wolves was announced recently.

While an official announcement regarding Jimenez’s signing is anticipated soon, it could be revealed later today, allowing him to concentrate on Mexico’s World Cup opener against South Africa on Thursday.

A Warm Welcome Back for Jimenez

Having celebrated his 35th birthday last month, Jimenez may not expect to be a regular starter for Wolves at this stage in his career. However, he returns to a club where he previously thrived and received immense support during his recovery from a fractured skull sustained in November 2020.

The affection shown by fans during his last home game—where they chanted ‘Si Senor’—was not solely for his impressive tally of 57 goals and 23 assists in 166 appearances but also reflected the strong bond he shares with the club.

Wolves supporters are eager for the club to demonstrate its commitment to securing a swift return to the Premier League. Signing Jimenez is seen as a significant step towards rebuilding trust and enthusiasm among fans through strategic transfers.
