Divock Origi Announces Retirement from Football at Age 31: ‘My Message on the Pitch is Complete’
Belgian star Divock Origi has officially announced his retirement from football, bringing an end to a remarkable career in European football at just 31 years of age.
Origi shared an emotional message on his official Instagram account, stating that his journey as a professional footballer has come to a close, expressing gratitude for all the moments he experienced throughout his career.
The Belgian striker remarked, “My message as a football player is complete. I have lived my childhood dreams of playing on the biggest stages and winning major trophies, and I am thankful to God for everything I have achieved.”.
Origi thanked his fans worldwide, emphasizing that the exceptional moments he experienced on the pitch will forever remain etched in his memory. He added, “Every goal and every historic moment we created together will be ours forever.”.
He also expressed appreciation for the clubs, coaches, and teammates who accompanied him throughout his journey, noting that their influence extended beyond football and contributed to shaping his character.
Reflecting on his pride in representing his national team, Origi stated, “Defending Belgium’s colors was a great source of pride for me, and maintaining my connection to my Kenyan roots brought me special joy.”.

During his career, Origi shone while wearing the Liverpool jersey, playing 175 matches and scoring 41 goals. He contributed to the team’s triumphs in several major tournaments, including the UEFA Champions League and the Premier League, as well as the FA Cup.
Origi also represented Lille, Wolfsburg, AC Milan, and Nottingham Forest during his career and made 32 international appearances for Belgium, scoring three goals.
