Health Ministry Shuts Down Illegal Nutrition Center in Sheikh Zayed
Health Ministry Closes ‘Mena Fit Session’ Center in Sheikh Zayed.
The Ministry of Health and Population has announced the closure and sealing of the “Mena Fit Session” nutrition consultation center located in Sheikh Zayed, Giza Governorate. This action follows the discovery of an individual impersonating a doctor who was operating the facility illegally and committing serious violations that jeopardize public safety.
This operation was conducted in collaboration with the Giza Health Directorate and coordinated with the Ministry of Interior’s Supply Police, as part of directives from Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population, to intensify oversight campaigns on private medical establishments and combat malpractice.
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesperson for the Ministry, revealed that the inspection led to the arrest of a woman holding a law degree who had been disbarred from the Bar Association. She was posing as a doctor while providing medical consultations at the center.
The spokesperson noted that this individual manages a YouTube channel and social media platforms with thousands of followers, where she disseminates misleading and dangerous medical content. He emphasized that the Medical Syndicate had previously condemned her claims regarding causes of uterine bleeding, asserting they lack scientific validity.
Furthermore, he stated that the center was operating without a license, violating Law No. 53 of 2004 concerning medical facilities. The impersonator was apprehended while conducting a medical examination on a patient for a fee of 1,500 Egyptian pounds. A medical scale found within the clinic has been confiscated.
Dr. Hisham Zaki, head of the Central Administration for Non-Governmental Healthcare Institutions and Licensing, confirmed that the facility was immediately closed with red seals, and an official report was filed regarding the violations for legal action by the Public Prosecution.
The Ministry of Health and Population strongly warns citizens against falling for misleading medical advertisements on social media. It urges them to always verify official licenses for any healthcare provider or medical center before engaging with them, reiterating its zero-tolerance policy towards any impersonation of medical professionals that endangers public health.
