Weather Forecast: Heatwave Expected Across Egypt Over Next Six Days

The Egyptian Meteorological Authority has released its weather forecast for the upcoming six days, detailing expected conditions across Greater Cairo and the rest of the country.

According to a post on their official Facebook page, temperatures are set to remain high in Cairo and other provinces, with forecasts indicating a range of 36 to 37 degrees Celsius in Greater Cairo until Wednesday, June 10, 2026.

In Alexandria and El Alamein, temperatures are expected to range from 32 to 33 degrees Celsius, while in Matrouh and Sallum, they will be between 33 and 37 degrees. Northern Upper Egypt is forecasted to see temperatures between 37 and 38 degrees, whereas Southern Upper Egypt could reach highs of 40 to 42 degrees.

Additionally, the meteorological authority highlighted significant weather phenomena expected today, Friday, June 5, 2026. The forecast indicates extremely hot daytime conditions across most regions, with warm weather along the northern coasts. At night, temperatures are expected to be moderate to slightly warm throughout the country.

Key weather phenomena today include morning fog on several routes leading from northern regions to Greater Cairo, as well as cities along the canal and parts of North Upper Egypt.

There is also a chance of light rain in areas along the northwestern coast and western desert, which may occasionally be moderate or accompanied by thunder in some parts of New Valley Province at an estimated occurrence rate of about 20%.

Winds are expected to be active across most areas, potentially stirring up sand and dust in parts of the Red Sea Governorate at intermittent intervals.

The Mediterranean Sea is anticipated to have mild to moderate conditions with wave heights ranging from 1.25 meters to 1.75 meters and winds blowing from the northeast. Meanwhile, the Red Sea is expected to experience moderate to rough conditions with wave heights between one and a half meters to two and a half meters, with winds coming from the northwest.
