Aston Villa Shows Strong Interest in Signing Manu Kone from Roma
Aston Villa is reportedly showing ‘concrete interest’ in acquiring Roma midfielder Manu Kone during the upcoming summer transfer window.
While there are discussions surrounding a potential £100m transfer budget, Villa must navigate Premier League and UEFA financial regulations, which could limit early signings at Villa Park.
Nonetheless, manager Unai Emery has already pinpointed potential targets as the club prepares for the 2026-27 season.
Another Roma player, Matias Soule, has also been mentioned as a possible addition to Villa Park, potentially serving as a replacement for Manchester United loanee Jadon Sancho.
According to DajeRomaTV, Aston Villa is keen on negotiating a deal for Kone, who is part of France’s World Cup squad.

Aston Villa Prepared to Pursue Kone
Kone, who has earned 12 caps for France, is among Roma’s most valuable players. However, the club’s need to adhere to financial regulations means that a sale cannot be dismissed.
During his two years at Stadio Olimpico, Kone has made 82 appearances across all competitions, contributing four goals and six assists.
With Roma returning to the Champions League, staying with the Italian side remains an option for Kone. However, club officials may decide that selling the 25-year-old could alleviate financial pressures.
The situation may hinge on how well Aston Villa can manage their financial leeway after being fined by UEFA for regulatory breaches last summer.

Assessing the Need for Kone at Aston Villa
Emery already boasts a strong midfield with players like Boubacar Kamara, Amadou Onana, and Youri Tielemans vying for starting positions when fit.
However, Kamara is currently recovering from a serious knee injury and Onana has faced fitness challenges. Thus, adding a player of Kone’s caliber could be crucial throughout the season.
Kone’s rising profile is evident as he started four out of five matches for France in the UEFA Nations League between September and November. Nevertheless, he is not anticipated to start in France’s World Cup opener against Senegal on June 16.
