Local Development Minister Engages with Parliament Members on Key Citizen Services
Dr. Manal Awad, the Minister of Local Development and Environment, welcomed several members of the House of Representatives and the Senate today at the ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital.
The meeting aimed to discuss critical issues related to services provided to citizens across various governorates, attended by Major General Hamdi El-Gazzar, the minister’s advisor for parliamentary affairs, along with several ministry leaders.
The delegation included House members Ashraf Marzouk Aziz, Abir Rakha, Abdel Rahman Bashay, Amr Fahmy, and Mostafa Merizq. Senate members present were Wafaa Rashad, Mohamed Abdel Alim El-Sheikh, and Karim Imam.
During the meeting, Dr. Awad expressed her commitment to maintaining communication and coordination with parliament members to address citizens’ requests and issues in their respective constituencies. She emphasized the importance of collaborating with local executive bodies and relevant ministries to expedite solutions.
Parliament members presented various citizen requests from their districts in Cairo, Luxor, Damietta, Alexandria, Gharbia, Qena, and Sohag. Topics discussed included paving main and secondary roads, improving street conditions, regularizing state lands to lower prices, settling building violations, coordinating with relevant authorities on urban planning requests, solid waste management systems, natural reserves management, updating urban boundaries, removing illegal buildings, and enhancing services for vulnerable groups. They also addressed challenges hindering investments and administrative obstacles to attract investments in complementary industries near major factories in Upper Egypt. Additionally, they discussed upgrading slaughterhouses and establishing public transport stations for citizen convenience.
Members of both legislative bodies praised Dr. Awad’s efforts in advancing the ministry’s agenda to enhance citizens’ quality of life.
In response to their concerns, Dr. Awad reaffirmed the government’s dedication to facilitating processes for serious citizens seeking regularization regarding reconciliation and regulatory matters. She noted that her ministry closely monitors all service projects impacting daily life in governorates to ensure timely completion and improve local service efficiency for a qualitative leap in service delivery.
Dr. Awad instructed ministry leaders and relevant sectors to promptly study all requests submitted by parliament members in coordination with governorates and concerned authorities within the ministry. This effort aims to meet citizens’ needs and foster development across all governorates of Egypt while addressing citizen issues effectively.
