Transfer News: Tijjani Reijnders Set to Stay at Man City, Mason Greenwood Joins Roma

Written byFerdous Saeed

Manchester City is reportedly planning to retain midfielder Tijjani Reijnders as the new season approaches. The 27-year-old is currently representing the Netherlands at the World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, where his team started their campaign with a 2-2 draw against Japan.

Despite being surrounded by Premier League stars, it was Crysencio Summerville from West Ham United, a Championship player, who scored for the Oranje in the match’s closing moments.

Reijnders made an impressive start to his Premier League career with a goal on his debut against Wolverhampton Wanderers last August. However, he soon fell out of favor under former head coach Pep Guardiola, who opted for different midfield options.

According to Football Insider, Manchester City intends to keep the talented Dutchman beyond the summer transfer window. This decision comes a year after he joined from AC Milan for £46 million.

The report indicates that City is not looking to reduce their midfield options further following the recent departure of club legend Bernardo Silva to Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid.

Reijnders is eager to remain at the Etihad Stadium and work his way back up the midfield hierarchy under the new head coach, expected to be Enzo Maresca.

Mason Greenwood ‘Agrees Transfer’ to Serie A Club

On another front, Mason Greenwood had a standout season at Marseille during 2025-26, scoring 16 goals and providing seven assists in 32 Ligue 1 appearances. However, Marseille’s failure to qualify for European competitions has prompted the 24-year-old to seek new opportunities following his departure from Manchester United.

As reported by Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport, Greenwood has reached an agreement to join Serie A club Roma for the upcoming 2026-27 season. His time at Stade Velodrome is drawing to a close.

The report states that Greenwood has already signed a contract with Roma, where he is expected to earn nearly £4 million per year. Following his permanent transfer from Manchester United to Marseille in summer 2024, the Red Devils are set to benefit financially from this move due to a 40% sell-on clause.

Man City Youngster ‘Monitored’ by Lazio and Feyenoord

Returning to Manchester City matters, young prospect Charlie Gray has been making waves in recent years, earning individual accolades for his performances within the academy. The 20-year-old made his senior debut in an EFL Cup victory over Brentford at the end of 2025 and was included in Guardiola’s Champions League squad last season.

However, Gray’s future at Manchester City is uncertain as Football Insider reports interest from several Premier League clubs. With his contract expiring at the end of June, time is running out for City to secure a renewal.

Additionally, both Lazio and Feyenoord are reportedly keen on acquiring Gray’s services. Last season, he made 11 appearances in Premier League 2 for Manchester City’s Under-21 team.
