Egyptian-Brazilian Summit Held on the Sidelines of G7 Meeting in France

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met today in Évian with Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva during the G7 summit.

Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, spokesperson for the presidency, stated that the meeting focused on the overall bilateral relations between Egypt and Brazil. President El-Sisi expressed his deep appreciation for the historical ties between the two nations and emphasized Egypt’s commitment to enhancing these relations and all existing frameworks for consultation. He particularly valued the ongoing joint efforts to implement the strategic partnership agreement signed between the countries in November 2024, highlighting the notable growth in trade exchange between them in recent years.

El-Shenawy added that President Lula da Silva expressed his happiness at meeting with President El-Sisi again, welcoming the momentum of relations between their countries, especially since Egypt is Brazil’s most important trading partner in Africa. The Brazilian president also praised the growing cooperation frameworks following Egypt’s accession to BRICS, as well as the strategic partnership agreement and the free trade agreement between Egypt and MERCOSUR. He stressed the necessity of continuing efforts to increase trade volume, which has recently surpassed $5.5 billion.

The spokesperson noted that both presidents also discussed joint cooperation in international forums. President Lula da Silva expressed appreciation for Egypt’s efforts, led by President El-Sisi, to restore stability in the Middle East. He emphasized Brazil’s support for Egypt’s approaches focused on achieving sustainable and comprehensive peaceful solutions to crises in both the Middle East and Africa.

At the conclusion of their meeting, both presidents agreed to continue coordination and consultation at all levels between their countries in the upcoming period.
