Dr. Osama Dawood, President of Al-Azhar University, emphasized that the Prophet Muhammad’s migration was not merely a historical event but a pivotal moment in the Islamic call, serving as a source of lessons and insights for the nation at all times and places.
This statement was made during a speech at a celebration organized by Al-Azhar Mosque to mark the beginning of the new Hijri year.

The event was attended by Minister of Endowments Dr. Osama Al-Azhari, Sheikh Ayman Abdel-Ghani, Deputy of Al-Azhar, and Dr. Nazier Ayad, Grand Mufti of Egypt. The discussion focused on the lessons and insights derived from the Prophet’s migration.
Dr. Dawood highlighted one of the most significant lessons: absolute trust in God’s support, citing His words: “If you do not support him, God has already supported him.” He explained that divine care accompanied the Prophet during his most challenging moments.
The President also addressed themes of reassurance and certainty drawn from the Prophet’s statement to his companion Abu Bakr: “Do not grieve; indeed God is with us.” He affirmed that God’s presence with His faithful servants has always been a source of strength and steadfastness in facing challenges.
Furthermore, he noted that migration is closely linked to intention and sincerity, referencing the Prophet’s saying: “Actions are judged by intentions.” He described migration as a transition from weakness to strength, from fragmentation to construction and development, representing a practical model of sacrifice and effort for the elevation of religion and homeland.
The ceremony concluded with distinctive religious supplications presented by Sheikh Montaser Al-Akart, which infused the event with a spiritual atmosphere filled with faith and love. The gathering evoked the meanings of the Prophet’s migration and its enduring lessons in patience, resilience, labor, and construction.
The event was also attended by Dr. Abdel-Hadi Al-Qasabi, Sheikh of Sufi Orders and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Sufi Orders; Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Rahman Al-Dawini, member of Al-Azhar Senior Scholars Authority; Dr. Shawki Allam, Chairman of Religious Affairs Committee in the Senate; Dr. Ramadan Al-Sawy, Vice President of Al-Azhar University for Lower Egypt; Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Dayem El-Gendy, Secretary General of Islamic Research Academy; Dr. Ismail El-Haddad, Secretary General of Al-Azhar Supreme Council; Dr. Ahmed Khalifa Sharkawi, Head of Azhar Institutes Sector; Dr. Mahmoud El-Hawari, Assistant Secretary General of Islamic Research Academy; Dr. Amr El-Wardani, Chairman of Religious Committee in Parliament; along with several prominent scholars and religious leaders from Al-Azhar.
