Enzo Fernandez Eyes Move to Real Madrid as Marc Cucurella Joins

Written byFerdous Saeed

As Marc Cucurella prepares to finalize his transfer to Real Madrid on Monday, Enzo Fernandez has expressed his desire to leave Chelsea for the Spanish giants. However, securing the Argentine midfielder’s move is expected to be more complicated.

Real Madrid is intensifying its efforts in the summer transfer market following a season without trophies. The club has already announced the return of Jose Mourinho to manage the team, replacing Alvaro Arbeloa, and has swiftly completed three signings: Ibrahima Konate, Denzel Dumfries for €20 million, and Bernardo Silva.

On Monday, Real Madrid will officially announce Marc Cucurella’s arrival from Chelsea for €60 million, including bonuses. Determined to avoid a repeat of last season’s disappointment, the club is actively seeking additional reinforcements, particularly in midfield.

According to Ben Jacobs, Enzo Fernandez is keen to follow his Chelsea teammate Marc Cucurella in making a move to Madrid. The Argentine midfielder’s intentions are clear, and he has not concealed his wish to depart from Chelsea.

While Real Madrid has quickly secured Cucurella’s transfer, negotiating for Fernandez will be a more challenging process. Chelsea has set a hefty price tag of €139 million for their World Cup-winning midfielder, which could deter potential suitors and dampen Real Madrid’s interest.

The situation is further complicated as Real Madrid has yet to determine the specific profile they wish to add to their midfield. Recent reports indicated that the club aims to sign both a creative midfielder and a more defensive player this summer. While Bernardo Silva fits the creative role, they are now searching for a player with defensive capabilities.

Fernandez primarily plays as an attacking midfielder but has experience in various midfield roles throughout his career. His versatility makes him an attractive option for Los Blancos.

However, he faces competition from other candidates on Real Madrid’s radar, including Mateus Fernandes, who is attracting interest from several top European clubs like Paris Saint-Germain, and Rodri, a long-time target for the club.
