Egypt Condemns Israeli Aggression Against Lebanon, Affirms Support for Sovereignty

Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, held a phone conversation with Dr. Nawaf Salam, the Lebanese Prime Minister, to discuss ongoing developments in Lebanon and the recent escalation of Israeli military actions.
Ambassador Tamim Khalaf, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that during the call, Minister Abdel Aty reiterated Egypt’s full support for Lebanon amidst the current challenges. He condemned the Israeli aggression on Lebanon and emphasized Egypt’s firm stance calling for a complete Israeli withdrawal from all Lebanese territories. He stressed that any violation of Lebanon’s sovereignty or harm to its territorial integrity constitutes a blatant breach of international law and United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701.
The spokesperson added that Minister Abdel Aty highlighted the importance of supporting Lebanese state institutions, particularly the Lebanese Armed Forces, to enable them to fulfill their responsibilities in asserting authority and sovereignty over all national territory. He noted that ensuring the exclusivity of arms in the hands of the Lebanese state is essential for maintaining Lebanon’s security and stability and safeguarding the interests of its people.
Minister Abdel Aty affirmed Egypt’s commitment to continuing its support for Lebanon and its national institutions, grounded in the fraternal relations and close ties between the two countries, contributing to enhancing Lebanon’s security and stability.
