New Flight Route from Porto Enhances Sharm El Sheikh’s Air Connectivity
Sharm El Sheikh International Airport welcomed its first flight from Porto, Portugal, operated by RED SEA, marking the start of the Summer 2026 season and expanding the city’s air connectivity.
The inaugural flight arrived with 121 passengers onboard, inaugurating a new air route that supports inbound tourism and adds Porto to the list of international destinations linked to Sharm El Sheikh.
This new route comes as Sharm El Sheikh experiences a surge in tourist activity, with growing interest from various international markets in visiting this Egyptian tourist destination. This trend reinforces the city’s position as one of the region’s premier tourist spots.
To celebrate the arrival of the first flight, the public relations team at Sharm El Sheikh International Airport organized a special welcome for the aircraft and its passengers. The plane was greeted with a traditional water salute, and passengers were presented with flowers and chocolates. Operational teams at the airport ensured a smooth arrival process through an integrated operational system implemented by the Egyptian Airports Company, showcasing the airport’s readiness and service efficiency in handling increasing air traffic and welcoming international flights.





RED SEA is set to continue operating regular flights between Porto and Sharm El Sheikh at a frequency of one flight per week until mid September 2026, totaling 15 flights during the summer season. This initiative aims to bolster inbound tourism and broaden the base of source markets for travel to the city.
The launch of this new air route reflects growing confidence in Egypt’s tourism sector and underscores Sharm El Sheikh International Airport’s capacity to attract more international flights and destinations. Continuous improvements in operational systems and services provided by the Egyptian Airports Company further enhance this capability.
