Written byFerdous Saeed

Real Madrid has made a surprising move in the transfer market by submitting a formal offer to their rivals Atletico Madrid for Argentine striker Julian Alvarez.

In an official statement following a board meeting, Real Madrid revealed they have proposed a staggering €150 million for the player, citing the “good relations” between the two clubs.

The club’s statement read:.

“Real Madrid announces that following today’s board meeting, it has submitted an offer of €150 million to Atletico Madrid for player Julian Alvarez.”.

Atletico Madrid acknowledged the offer but officially rejected it, stating that their decision was based on the player’s buyout clause value.

Real Madrid’s interest in Alvarez comes after FC Barcelona had previously shown interest, being the first club to seek to sign the Argentine striker during this summer’s transfer window.

Barcelona faced a similar rejection from Atletico Madrid regarding their initial bid, as the club’s management was not convinced by the financial terms presented.

Reports indicate that there is a prior agreement between Alvarez and Atletico Madrid’s management allowing for consideration of offers should he wish to leave, keeping the future of this transfer open despite current complications.
