Written byFerdous Saeed

Manchester City has confirmed that midfielder Divine Mukasa has extended his contract with the club until 2030.

The 18-year-old, who joined City from West Ham United in 2023, quickly emerged as a standout talent for the club’s Under-18 and Elite Development squads, netting 26 goals and providing 32 assists in 75 appearances across all competitions.

Mukasa’s exceptional performances earned him a spot in Pep Guardiola’s senior team, where he made his debut in September 2025 and subsequently appeared five more times for the first team.

Last season, the England Under-19 international gained valuable experience during a loan spell at Leicester City, contributing two goals and three assists in 15 Championship matches.

Determined to establish himself as a regular starter at Manchester City, Mukasa expressed his enthusiasm about committing his future to the club with a new four-year deal.

“I am really excited to see what the future has in store for me,” Mukasa told mancity.com after the announcement of his contract extension. “I have learned so much since joining the club from both players and staff. The experiences I have gained have undoubtedly made me a better player and person.”.

He added, “With this said, I plan to continue using this environment to progress. My experience of first-team football at City last season has fueled my ambition to compete at the highest level.”.

Hugo Viana, Manchester City’s Director of Football responsible for player recruitment and contract renewals, commented on Mukasa’s potential: “We believe Divine has enormous potential. It’s fantastic news that he has chosen to extend his stay with us. Since arriving at City in 2023, he has shown continuous improvement and development.”.

Viana praised Mukasa’s work ethic and eagerness to learn: “He combines hard work with humility—traits that are invaluable for any young footballer. His progress during his loan at Leicester was impressive, and we look forward to seeing him develop further in the coming seasons. I am genuinely pleased for Divine; he deserves this opportunity.”.

Mukasa May Join Maresca’s Squad for Pre-Season Training

As Manchester City prepares for the upcoming season under new head coach Enzo Maresca, it remains uncertain whether Mukasa will be reintegrated into the senior squad. He is expected to join the first team during pre-season training where he will have an opportunity to impress Maresca before decisions are made regarding another potential loan move.

If Mukasa stays with Manchester City, he will face significant competition for playing time in midfield or attack from players like Phil Foden, Rayan Cherki, Tijjani Reijnders, and Omar Marmoush.

In other news, Manchester City is reportedly making headway in negotiations with key defender Josko Gvardiol regarding a new contract. Meanwhile, midfielder Rodri’s future remains uncertain as he approaches the final year of his current deal.
