Aston Villa’s £43m Bid for Como’s Martin Baturina Rejected
Aston Villa has reportedly had an offer of at least €50 million (£43.21 million) for Como winger Martin Baturina turned down. Despite ongoing concerns regarding compliance with Premier League and UEFA financial regulations, Villa is set to be active in the summer transfer window.
Manager Unai Emery has been allocated a substantial transfer budget as the club aims to rejuvenate its squad, particularly as they seek to lower the average age of their team.
With loan agreements for Manchester United’s Jadon Sancho and Liverpool’s Harvey Elliott not being made permanent, it is evident that Villa is on the lookout for new attacking options.

Martin Baturina’s Asking Price
The report suggests that Villa presented a bid in the range of €50 million (£43.21 million) to €55 million (£47.53 million) for the Croatian international, who is also attracting interest from Bayern Munich. However, Como is reportedly unwilling to sell unless they receive an offer around €80 million (£69.14 million).
Baturina is considered one of Como’s standout players, having scored six goals and provided three assists in Serie A during the 2025-26 season, helping the club achieve a surprising qualification for the Champions League.
He will soon head to the World Cup with Croatia, where he has an opportunity to further elevate his profile.
Como is said to be firm on their stance that no players will be sold this summer unless they receive offers that meet their significant valuation.

Aston Villa Fans’ Optimism
Aston Villa supporters might feel encouraged by the club’s willingness to make such a significant offer for Baturina, especially given past challenges with financial regulations. Although player sales are anticipated this summer—particularly with Emiliano Martinez and Morgan Rogers linked with moves away—it is crucial for the squad to refresh due to many current players being over 28 years old.
While Baturina may not yet be a household name, his recent regular appearances for Croatia indicate that it may only be a matter of time before he secures a move to a larger club.
