Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, the Prime Minister of Egypt, inaugurated the new expansions of the “Shahinler Egypt 2” ready-made garments project in the industrial zone of New Borg El Arab during his visit to Alexandria today.

The Prime Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to encouraging industrial projects to expand their investments in Egypt, highlighting the growing confidence of the business community in the Egyptian investment climate and its ongoing improvements in infrastructure and support for the industrial and export sectors.

Engineer Khaled Hashem, Minister of Industry, reiterated that the ministry is dedicated to promoting industrial investment and attracting investors across various industrial sectors to enhance Egyptian industry and increase exports.

During the inauguration, Prime Minister Madbouly toured the factory to observe production processes and final products. He received insights from Mahmoud Qattab, General Manager of Shahinler Egypt, who explained that the new expansions are part of Shahinler Egypt’s efforts, a subsidiary of Turkish Shahinler Holding Group, to continue expanding and boosting its investments in Egypt’s ready-made garments sector.

These new expansions reflect Shahinler Holding Group’s commitment to increasing industrial exports, creating job opportunities, and supporting Egypt’s goal of achieving sustainable industrial development while enhancing its position as a regional and global hub for ready-made garment manufacturing.

Qattab noted that Shahinler Egypt is one of the most prominent foreign industrial investments in Egypt’s ready-made garment sector aimed at export. The company has been operating under special free zones for over 18 years and has established itself as a reliable industrial partner for many global brands.

The new expansions cover approximately 10,908 square meters with a total built area of 16,665 square meters. They include a state-of-the-art central cutting department with the latest industrial technologies and 32 new production lines, significantly boosting production capacity and enhancing the competitiveness of Egyptian industry in global markets.

The expansions have created 1,500 direct job opportunities and 4,500 indirect jobs, supporting government efforts to provide employment and promote sustainable economic development. Shahinler Egypt aims for exports worth approximately $55 million by 2026 while being classified among the largest exporters of ready-made garments within free zones in Egypt.

Qattab highlighted that Shahinler Egypt is committed to applying international standards in quality, sustainability, social responsibility, and environmental practices, which has resulted in receiving several prestigious international certifications. The project also features a solar power station with a capacity of 512 kilowatts to support green manufacturing initiatives.

Additionally, Qattab announced plans for a new industrial project named “Shahinler Egypt 3” in New Borg El Arab. This project is expected to be a significant addition to Egypt’s industrial sector and will contribute to national economic support. The project is planned on an area of 4,559 square meters with a total built area reaching 10,600 square meters and will consist of a basement, ground floor, and two upper floors built according to modern engineering and industrial standards.

The “Shahinler Egypt 3” project aims to enhance manufacturing capabilities and export potential through establishing eight advanced production lines along with developing specialized cutting and preparation sections as well as creating integrated production and logistics warehouses while implementing modern operational management systems.

The project is anticipated to achieve an annual increase in company exports estimated at around $7 million annually while providing direct job opportunities totaling about 400 jobs and indirect jobs reaching approximately 1,200 jobs—resulting in a total of 1,600 new job opportunities that will bolster economic development and provide sustainable employment prospects for young Egyptians.

In this context, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly took time during his visit to inspect quality control stages and review various products being exported to countries including those in American and European markets. He also engaged with factory employees to ensure their well-being regarding income levels, educational qualifications, benefits provided by the company as well as their skills development mechanisms aligning with international market demands.

One employee with an intermediate qualification expressed satisfaction with their work environment and income level stating they earn a fixed salary of EGP 9,500 monthly which can increase up to EGP 11,000 including bonuses and incentives.
