Tottenham Targets £50m Savinho as Man City Considers Sale

Written byFerdous Saeed

Tottenham Hotspur is reportedly eyeing a move for Manchester City winger Savinho, following their recent acquisition of Andrew Robertson on a free transfer. The North London club is set to undergo a major rebuild under manager Roberto De Zerbi after narrowly escaping relegation last season, with bolstering their attacking lineup being a top priority.

Tottenham expressed interest in Savinho last summer, but Pep Guardiola managed to convince the young Brazilian that he had a significant role in Manchester City’s future plans. However, the situation has shifted dramatically over the past year, particularly with the arrival of Antoine Semenyo, which has pushed Savinho further down the pecking order at the Etihad Stadium.

According to The Mirror, Savinho is receptive to a transfer to Tottenham, leaving the club with the task of negotiating terms with Manchester City. The Brazilian has reportedly become frustrated by his lack of consistent playing time, which has been exacerbated by injuries and stiff competition for positions.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano indicated that Savinho was drawn to Tottenham’s project last summer, and it appears that the 22-year-old still holds that enthusiasm despite the club’s challenging season. Thus, personal terms should not pose a significant hurdle if Spurs decide to ramp up their pursuit in the near future.

Savinho is under contract with Manchester City until 2030, but it is believed that a fee around £50 million would be sufficient to entice the Premier League champions into negotiations.

Xavi Simons Sparks Speculation Among Tottenham Fans

Newcastle United has also shown interest in acquiring Savinho; however, Tottenham is currently seen as the frontrunner in securing his signature. Recent speculation regarding Savinho’s future intensified when Xavi Simons shared an old photo of them together on social media while recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament injury that sidelined him from the World Cup.

The two forwards maintained a close bond during their tenure at PSV Eindhoven, prompting Tottenham fans to interpret Simons’ post as a potential indication of a future reunion.

In addition to pursuing Savinho, Tottenham is believed to have reached an agreement in principle for Argentine defender Marcos Senesi and continues to monitor Brighton & Hove Albion center-back Jan Paul van Hecke as De Zerbi’s rebuilding efforts gain traction.
