Barcelona Open to Offers for Defender Alejandro Balde Amid Manchester United Interest

Written byFerdous Saeed

Barcelona is reportedly willing to consider offers for 22-year-old defender Alejandro Balde this summer, as interest from Manchester United intensifies.

Once seen as a vital component of Barcelona’s future plans, Balde’s status at Camp Nou has shifted significantly in recent months. His role has diminished after a season marred by injuries in 2025-26 and the arrival of Joao Cancelo, who has quickly established himself as a key player.

Cancelo’s versatility has provided manager Hansi Flick with tactical options, leading to his increased involvement in crucial matches over Balde.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona is reassessing its left-back options and is now open to entertaining offers for Balde. The club aims to retain Cancelo beyond this season and is reportedly negotiating a permanent deal with Al-Hilal from the Saudi Pro League.

Additionally, Barcelona has not ruled out the possibility of acquiring another seasoned left-back, with Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella reportedly among the candidates being considered.

Manchester United is anticipated to bolster their left defensive flank this summer as manager Michael Carrick seeks to enhance squad balance and depth.

The club’s primary target remains Newcastle United’s Lewis Hall, though they are also evaluating Eintracht Frankfurt’s Nathaniel Brown and Balde as potential acquisitions.

The report indicates that Manchester United may face competition from fellow Premier League clubs, including Manchester City and Aston Villa, who are also keeping tabs on Balde’s situation. Super-agent Jorge Mendes has been made aware of Barcelona’s openness to offers, and given Balde’s youth, talent, and experience at high levels, significant interest is expected if he enters the transfer market.
