Bashir El-Tabie Criticizes Zamalek’s Leadership and Youth Minister

Written byFerdous Saeed

Bashir El-Tabie, a former star of Zamalek SC, has launched a strong attack on the club’s management amid the recent crises it faces, particularly concerning player registrations and financial dues. He directed sharp criticisms at Hussein Labib, the president of the club, and other board members.

The international governing body of football, FIFA, has dealt another blow to Zamalek by announcing a ban on player registrations for the 17th time due to overdue payments owed to former head coach Yannick Ferreira, totaling approximately $60 million.

In an exclusive interview with Al-Aweek portal, El-Tabie stated that the current management of Zamalek is a disgrace to its supporters, asserting that they have failed in all matters concerning the club. While he acknowledged Labib as a respectable individual, he expressed that he lacks the authority required to lead the club and described him as a “frightened” figure in the sports community.

El-Tabie further elaborated that the current board does not merely hinder progress but is also sinking the club. He accused them of conspiring against Zamalek in various matters and criticized their tendency to focus on superficial appearances during sports events, which he believes is detrimental to both fans and the club itself.

Continuing his critique, El-Tabie remarked on Youth and Sports Minister Ashraf Sobhi’s refusal to accept the resignation of Zamalek’s board, labeling him with a single term: “Minister Daker.” He insisted that this board must be held accountable for its evident administrative mistakes and that those who err deserve punishment.

He concluded his remarks by calling for this management to withdraw from sports entirely, stating: “You are a failed board. You cannot resolve registration issues or pay salaries; enough is enough. You are a disgrace to us.”.
