Bashir El-Tabie Praises Egypt’s Coach Ahead of 2026 World Cup
Bashir El-Tabie, the former star of Zamalek, has expressed his admiration for Hossam Hassan, the head coach of the Egyptian national football team, as they prepare for the upcoming 2026 World Cup.
The Egyptian team is set to compete in the World Cup, which will take place in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. They have been drawn into Group G alongside Belgium, New Zealand, and Iran.
In an exclusive interview with Al-Osboua, El-Tabie stated: “I take my hat off to Captain Hossam Hassan. He is a national coach capable of making history with the Egyptian team in the World Cup because he can instill spirit and enthusiasm, playing with determination on the field with the players.”.
He added: “In terms of technical performance, Egypt may not be at its peak under Captain Hossam Hassan, but the results achieved under his leadership are among the best in Egyptian football history. These are historical statistics that no one can deny. I urge Hossam Hassan to aim high and reach as far as possible in the World Cup.”.
El-Tabie continued: “The phrase ‘honorable representation’ has become a narrative for the Pharaohs. I expect the Egyptian team to reach the quarter-finals of the 2026 World Cup. However, Egypt cannot replicate Morocco’s success from the Qatar 2022 World Cup; anything is possible in football.”.
He also praised Captain Ibrahim Hassan for his significant contributions to the national team: “Ibrahim is very talented and keeps a close watch on the players; this is one reason for their success under Hossam Hassan. I wish all success and brilliance for our national team. And to those who criticize them, I say: have some respect.”.
El-Tabie concluded by highlighting Mohamed Salah’s impact: “Mohamed Salah is a legend who has accomplished everything in football. He acts as Egypt’s coach on the field but needs to guide the new players on the team. I wish you all success, Mo.”.
