Carlo Ancelotti, the head coach of the Brazilian national team, made significant remarks ahead of the highly anticipated friendly match against Egypt, which serves as the final preparation for both teams before the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Ancelotti emphasized that facing the Pharaohs is a crucial opportunity to finalize the squad and provide technical feedback on the players before officially embarking on their World Cup journey.

Tactical Experiments: New Offensive Options for Brazil

While remaining cautious about revealing his complete lineup, Ancelotti openly stated his intention to experiment with certain players and tactical elements. He remarked, “The match against Egypt is our last chance for testing; what lies ahead in the World Cup will be more challenging. I want to test the pairing of Lucas Paquetá and Igor Thiago in search of alternative offensive options.”.

He added, “Our approach with four forwards is firmly established, but I aim to explore another tactical option in this final test.”.

Projected Starting Lineup for Brazil Against Egypt

The Italian coach indicated that Douglas Santos would start at left-back, while goalkeeper Weverton will participate in the second half.

He also confirmed that defender Gabriel Magalhães would miss the match against Egypt due to physical fatigue, explaining that the player returned exhausted from his efforts in the UEFA Champions League final.

Ancelotti stated, “Gabriel feels some fatigue after participating in the Champions League final, so he won’t be available against Egypt, but he will be ready for our first match in the World Cup.”.

According to Ancelotti’s statements, Brazil is expected to field a starting lineup consisting of: Wesley, Marquinhos, Leo Pereira, Douglas Santos, Casemiro, Bruno Guimarães, Ryan, Igor Thiago, Raphinha, and Vinícius Júnior.

Ancelotti Assures Fans About Neymar’s Condition

Ancelotti also discussed the latest developments regarding star player Neymar da Silva’s fitness status. He confirmed that Neymar would undergo another medical examination in the coming days to assess his calf injury.

He said: “Neymar’s situation is clear; he is working intensively on his rehabilitation program and will undergo an MRI scan at the end of this week.”.

He added: “If the results are positive, he will be able to return to team training next week.”.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will take place in the United States, Canada, and Mexico from June 11 to July 19. This tournament marks a historic edition featuring 48 teams for the first time.
