Egypt and Bahrain Agree to Enhance Coordination in Vocational Training Development

During the 114th International Labour Conference held in Geneva, Switzerland, Egyptian Minister of Labour Hassan Raddad met with Bahrain’s Minister of Labour, Youssef bin Abd al-Hussain Khalaf. The two ministers discussed several issues of mutual interest and explored ways to strengthen cooperation and coordination between the two nations in the fields of employment and human resource development.

Both ministers emphasized the deep fraternal ties between Egypt and Bahrain, expressing a shared commitment to enhancing collaboration across various sectors, particularly in labor issues, labor market development, and preparing human resources to adapt to global changes.

Minister Raddad highlighted Egypt’s efforts in improving its labor system and vocational training frameworks. He outlined the implementation of skill development programs aimed at preparing youth according to labor market needs, alongside ongoing advancements in labor legislation that foster decent working conditions and support sustainable development plans.

The discussions also covered opportunities for collaboration in vocational training, experience sharing regarding employment policies, digital transformation in labor services, youth skill development, and enhancing social protection for workers. The ministers agreed on the importance of exchanging successful experiences to address the challenges posed by rapid changes in labor markets.

The Bahraini Minister praised Egypt’s progress in labor, employment, and human resource development initiatives. He stressed the necessity for continued coordination and consultation between both countries to serve the interests of workers and employers while supporting developmental efforts.

Both sides agreed to maintain communication and coordination moving forward and intensify cooperation in areas of mutual interest to achieve developmental goals and enhance decent job opportunities for youth.

Attending the meeting from the Egyptian Ministry of Labour were: Ihab Abdel Aati, legal advisor to the Minister; Rasha Abdel Basit, head of the Central Administration for International Relations; Hilal Mamoun, director of International Agreements and Organizations at the Ministry; Omnia Abdel Hamid, technical assistant to the minister; and Mohamed Adel from Egypt’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations and international organizations in Geneva.
