Arsenal Eye Free Transfer of Striker Dusan Vlahovic After Juventus Departure

Written byFerdous Saeed

Former Arsenal target Dusan Vlahovic has reportedly failed to secure a new contract with Juventus, making him a potential free agent this summer.

The 26-year-old striker is among several players at the Turin club who may be departing the Allianz Arena, as Lois Openda has attracted interest from Premier League teams Nottingham Forest and Coventry City.

As Arsenal looks to strengthen its squad following a successful season that saw them claim their first Premier League title in 22 years, the club is linked with several exciting forwards. Notable names include Victor Osimhen and Julian Alvarez, with reports suggesting Arsenal is leading the chase for Alvarez.

Under Mikel Arteta’s management, the Gunners are gearing up for another transformative summer after finishing the 2025-26 season with just one trophy despite being contenders for a historic quadruple. Their hopes were dashed in the Champions League, FA Cup, and EFL Cup.

Arsenal Granted Opportunity for Free Transfer

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Arsenal has been presented with an intriguing opportunity as they prepare for the summer transfer window. The club is expected to invest significantly in a new left winger.

The report indicates that Vlahovic will become a free agent when his current contract expires this summer, as Juventus was unable to meet his wage demands, leading both parties to abandon negotiations.

Juventus head coach Luciano Spalletti previously expressed his desire to retain Vlahovic, emphasizing the striker’s importance for effective football. However, with Juventus finishing sixth in Serie A and facing Europa League action next season, they must find a way to move forward without him.

Have Arsenal Moved On from Vlahovic?

Arsenal was heavily linked with Vlahovic during the winter transfer window of 2022 when he scored 20 goals across all competitions in the first half of the season with Fiorentina. The Serbian ultimately joined Juventus in January 2022 for £66 million, prompting Arsenal to shift their focus to other targets as they evolved under Arteta’s leadership.

With Viktor Gyokeres joining from Sporting Lisbon last summer to fill the centre-forward role at the Emirates, it appears that Arsenal may have moved past their interest in Vlahovic.
