Two Million Students to Begin Intermediate Certificate Exams Tomorrow

The final exams for the second semester of the 2025/2026 academic year will commence tomorrow, Thursday, for approximately 2 million students enrolled in the third preparatory grade across various governorates in Egypt.

The intermediate certificate exams will be conducted at the governorate level, with the education directorates having completed preparations, including exam question formulation, printing, setting up exam rooms, and appointing supervisors and examiners.

The exams will continue until next Thursday, June 11, 2026. These exams are crucial for students as their scores will determine the type of secondary education they can pursue, whether general secondary education, technical education, or other specialized schools that have specific admission criteria, such as STEM schools and applied technology schools.

Exams for the intermediate certificate follow a two-semester system with a total score of 280 points—140 points allocated to each semester. All points are designated for examinations with no coursework grades included.

Students need more than 200 points to enroll in general secondary education and applied technology schools, while over 250 points are required for admission to exceptional schools.

Booklet System

Most governorates in Egypt will implement the booklet system for the intermediate certificate exams as per directives from the Ministry of Education. This system aims to reduce cheating and prevent the circulation of exam papers through electronic cheating platforms by merging question papers with answer sheets.

The Ministry of Education has emphasized that educational directorates must maintain strict control over the intermediate certificate exams and combat attempts at cheating among students by enforcing Law No. 205 of 2020 on combating exam disruption and Ministerial Decision No. 24 of 2018 regarding regulations for canceling or denying access to examinations.
