The Egyptian Ministry of Education and Technical Education, in collaboration with the Italian Ministry of Education and Merit, will launch the “Technical and Vocational Education Forum for Mediterranean Countries” (Techskills Forum) on June 5 and 6. This inaugural event is part of a pioneering joint initiative aimed at building sustainable developmental partnerships between African and Mediterranean countries while enhancing cooperation in technical and vocational education and training. The focus will particularly be on applied technology schools and the development of future skills necessary for digital transformation.

The forum will be held under the patronage of Mohamed Abdel-Latif, the Egyptian Minister of Education and Technical Education, alongside Dr. Giuseppe Valditara, the Italian Minister of Education. Delegations from Cyprus, Croatia, Greece, Romania, Spain, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Algeria, Libya, Lebanon, as well as representatives from Egypt and Italy will also participate.

The strategic vision of the forum aims to transform the Mediterranean region into a strategic platform for dialogue and cooperation among Mediterranean countries, Europe, and the Arab region in areas such as technical education, future skill development, digital transformation, innovation, employment, linking education to industry, and empowering youth.

Key topics at the conference will include enhancing technical education and vocational training partnerships with industry support for innovation and entrepreneurship. The forum aims to equip students with digital and practical skills while exploring the role of artificial intelligence and modern technology in reshaping the future of education and work.

Additionally, the forum seeks to establish a comprehensive system that connects vocational schools with Italian ITS academies, Egyptian Applied Technology Schools (ATS), industrial companies, students, experts, and decision-makers to create a clear pathway from education to employment.

The event will feature several innovative workshops designed for students and teachers inspired by the Italian “Hackathon” model. These workshops will bring together students into international teams from various Mediterranean countries to showcase creativity, technical knowledge, and interdisciplinary thinking.

Moreover, the forum will host an exhibition focused on technical and technological education featuring national pavilions from participating countries that will display educational strategies along with successful case studies in vocational education.
