Harry Kane, captain of the England national team and star forward for Bayern Munich, has shared his ambitions for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup, emphasizing that the primary goal is to win the title despite the fierce competition.

The tournament will take place across the United States, Canada, and Mexico from June 11 to July 15, featuring 48 teams for the first time in World Cup history.

In an interview with the British newspaper “The Independent,” Kane stated that winning the World Cup could enhance his chances of competing for the Ballon d’Or, saying, “If we win the World Cup, I will certainly be among the top contenders.”.

The Bayern Munich striker noted that securing a global title could shift the dynamics of individual accolades, suggesting that success for the England team might elevate one of its players to major individual honors.

“When we look at the leading contenders, we see players like Michael Olise and those who have reached the Champions League final, and I am also in that mix. However, I’m not one to demand awards; my performance on the pitch speaks for itself,” he added.

Kane expressed confidence in German coach Thomas Tuchel, under whom he has played at Bayern Munich, stating: “I admire his personality and ideas, as well as how he utilized me. He has transferred many of those methods to the England team.”.

The England captain reaffirmed that the team’s ambition is clear heading into the 2026 World Cup: “Our goal is to win the World Cup. We know it will be tough, but we have been close to achieving a major title in recent years.”.

Kane reflected on England’s recent tournament performances, highlighting their journey to the final of Euro 2021 and Euro 2024, along with reaching the semifinals of the 2018 World Cup and quarterfinals in 2022. He believes these results demonstrate the team’s progress.

He concluded by noting that with new players and a coach leading them into a new phase, their upcoming participation promises to be “exciting” despite the pressures and challenges ahead.
