Egypt’s Foreign Minister Commends Pakistan’s Role in U.S.-Iran Agreement

On Sunday, Dr. egypts-foreign-minister-reiterates-support-for-lebanons-sovereignty-in-call-with-prime-minister/">Badr Abdel-Aty, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, welcomed Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
This meeting took place on the sidelines of a regional gathering hosted in Cairo, where both sides discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations between the two friendly nations and exchanged views on regional and international developments of mutual interest.
Sayed Tamim Khalaf, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that the two ministers praised the historic ties and close connections between Egypt and Pakistan. They emphasized their commitment to continuing joint efforts to elevate cooperation across various political, economic, commercial, and investment sectors while exploring new avenues for partnership that benefit both countries and their peoples.
Minister Abdel-Aty expressed his commitment to following up on the outcomes of his recent visit to Pakistan. He also expressed anticipation for holding the fourth session of the Joint Ministerial Committee, co-chaired by both foreign ministers, as well as the tenth round of political consultations at the ministerial level. These meetings aim to provide a further boost to bilateral relations and strengthen existing cooperation frameworks.
He stressed the importance of enhancing economic and investment cooperation between the two nations through organizing business missions and reciprocal visits among business communities and chambers of commerce. Additionally, he highlighted linking Pakistani investors with promising investment opportunities in the Suez Canal Economic Zone and completing procedures for establishing an Egyptian-Pakistani Business Council.
The discussions also covered several regional issues. Minister Abdel-Aty expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s efforts in coordination with regional partners that contributed to reaching a memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran. He underscored the significance of this step in reducing tensions and preventing further escalation in the region while creating conditions conducive to achieving a final and sustainable agreement that bolsters regional security and stability.
In response, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister expressed gratitude for Egypt’s role over recent months in coordinating with regional and international partners to support negotiations and bridge perspectives among parties involved, which helped create a favorable environment for reaching this memorandum of understanding.
