Food Safety Authority Launches Extensive Campaign on Tourist Restaurants in Hurghada Marina
The General Administration for Monitoring Tourist Facilities, through inspectors from the Hurghada branch, has conducted an extensive inspection campaign targeting several tourist restaurants in the Hurghada Marina area of the Red Sea Governorate over two consecutive days.
This initiative aligns with directives from Dr. Tarek El-Hobi, President of the Food Safety Authority, aimed at enhancing oversight of food and tourism establishments and raising compliance levels with food safety regulations. The campaign is part of the regulatory plan implemented by the authority during the summer season, which focuses on intensifying monitoring and inspections of food establishments engaged in tourism activities to ensure adherence to approved health standards and maintain the safety of food served to citizens and visitors.
Inspection activities included verifying compliance with technical and health requirements related to food safety, reviewing handling and storage procedures, as well as educating staff on the importance of adhering to sound health practices and applying food safety principles.
The campaign resulted in the disposal of various quantities of food items deemed unfit for human consumption after confirming their expiration dates and identifying signs of spoilage. Necessary measures were taken to prevent these products from being circulated, ensuring consumer health is protected.

The Food Safety Authority emphasized its commitment to continuing intensive monitoring campaigns across food and tourism establishments in various governorates nationwide, addressing any practices or violations that could harm public health. This effort is part of its ongoing mission to strengthen the food safety system and ensure that safe and healthy food reaches consumers.
