The Dar Al-Iftaa of Egypt has clarified that the essence of marital life is rooted in tranquility, affection, and compassion, emphasizing the importance of each partner being considerate of the other’s feelings rather than merely focusing on the demands of rights and obligations.

Quoting the Quran, they referenced: “And among His signs is that He created for you from yourselves mates that you may find tranquility in them; and He placed between you affection and mercy.” [Quran 30:21].

The authority stressed that the religious rulings concerning marital life should not be approached with a mindset focused solely on finding texts that grant rights to one party or prove their correctness. Instead, these rulings should serve as a means to foster understanding and family stability, rather than as tools for exerting pressure or imposing desires on one another.

Furthermore, they highlighted that good companionship is achieved through mutual respect, forgiveness, kindness, and appreciation for each other’s feelings. Each partner should fulfill their duties before claiming their rights to reinforce stability and affection within the family.
