The Netherlands national football team has officially joined the ranks of teams that have scored 100 or more goals in the history of the FIFA World Cup. This milestone was achieved during their match against Sweden in the group stage of the 2026 World Cup.

Playing at Houston’s stadium on Saturday evening, the Dutch team faced Sweden in a critical match within Group F, showcasing a strong start from the “Oranje” right from the opening minutes.

Brobbey Leads Netherlands to Historic Achievement

Bryan Brobbey opened the scoring early in the fifth minute and added a second goal in the 17th minute, giving his team a clear advantage in the first half.

This second goal was particularly significant as it marked the 100th goal for the Netherlands in World Cup history, placing them among an elite group of teams in the tournament’s legacy.

Netherlands Joins Elite Club in World Cup History

According to statistics from Opta, a sports data and statistics provider, the Netherlands has become the eighth team in World Cup history to reach the milestone of 100 goals. This achievement highlights the team’s offensive strength over its numerous participations in the tournament.

Opta also revealed that Bryan Brobbey has entered an exclusive group of players by becoming only the third player in the last 40 years to score two goals within the first 17 minutes of a World Cup match, following Brazilian Ronaldo against Costa Rica in 2002 and German Lukas Podolski against Sweden in 2006.
