Government Support: Minister Visits Injured Village Head in Kafr El-Sheikh
Dr. Manal Awad, the Minister of Local Development and Environment, along with Engineer Ibrahim Maki, Governor of Kafr El-Sheikh, and Amal Ammar, Chairwoman of the National Council for Women, visited Hekmat El-Baz, head of the Abu Skin Inspection village in the Hamoul Center on Saturday. The visit aimed to check on her health following an injury she sustained while performing her official duties during a demolition operation to remove illegal structures on agricultural land in the village.
During their visit to Kafr El-Sheikh General Hospital, Dr. Awad, Governor Maki, and Ammar received updates from the medical team regarding El-Baz’s condition and the treatment she is receiving. They expressed their wishes for her swift recovery and a quick return to her family and work.
The Minister commended El-Baz for her dedication and commitment to protecting state rights and addressing construction violations on agricultural land. She emphasized that this reflects the commitment of local government employees to uphold the law and protect agricultural areas. Dr. Awad assured that comprehensive medical care would be provided for El-Baz while continuously monitoring her health status, alongside necessary legal actions related to the incident. She affirmed full support for both El-Baz and her family.
Governor Ibrahim Maki stated that the governorate is closely monitoring El-Baz’s health condition and ensuring all necessary medical care is available. He praised her exemplary service in fulfilling her duties and firmly addressing construction violations on agricultural land. Maki wished her a speedy recovery so she could return to work soon.
Amal Ammar expressed appreciation for El-Baz’s bravery and dedication in fulfilling her responsibilities, highlighting that Egyptian women have proven their capability to shoulder responsibilities across various executive and service roles. She noted that the National Council for Women is following up on the incident and providing all necessary support.
In response, Hekmat El-Baz expressed her heartfelt gratitude for the visit from the Minister, Governor, and Chairwoman of the National Council for Women, emphasizing that their concern represents significant moral support for both her and her family.
The incident occurred when Hekmat El-Baz and local unit employees were executing a demolition order against several illegal buildings erected on agricultural land within the village. An individual allegedly threw a flammable substance at her while she was in a local unit vehicle, igniting it and resulting in various burns on her body as well as damage to the vehicle. Legal actions have been initiated against this individual, who has been detained pending investigation.
