Pochettino Praises Team and Fans After USA’s Victory Over Australia

Argentinian coach Mauricio Pochettino expressed his satisfaction following the United States men’s national soccer team’s victory over Australia in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

On Friday evening, the USA secured a significant win, defeating Australia 2-0 in their second group stage match of the tournament.

Pochettino commented, “It was another fantastic match. We had an excellent first half and controlled the game against a very strong team.”.

Reflecting on the draw held in December, he noted, “I felt the match would be challenging, but our performance was incredible. We have an amazing fan base that rivals that of Argentina! I am very happy for them.”.

He also addressed the absence of Christian Pulisic, stating, “Christian is an important player for us; however, we are a team, and it was impossible for him to play with us today.”.

Pochettino added, “We want him back for the next match. But if we want to win the tournament, we need the whole team to contribute, and all players must be significant.”.
