New Partnership Between Education Development Fund and Ministry of Awqaf to Enhance Educational Projects in Egypt
Meeting Overview.
Dr. Rasha Saad Sharaf, Secretary-General of the Education Development Fund under the Prime Minister’s Office, welcomed Major General Wiam Suwailem, Assistant Minister of Awqaf for the Affairs of the Egyptian Awqaf Authority, today to explore opportunities for collaboration. The discussions focused on proposals and ideas to enhance the partnership between both parties in the field of education, aiming to support Egypt’s efforts to improve its educational system and achieve sustainable development goals.
The meeting addressed various proposals aimed at maximizing the benefits of the fund’s and authority’s capabilities in supporting the educational process. This includes creating new educational institutions and developing educational and training projects that expand access to educational services based on modern standards.

Following the meeting, Major General Wiam Suwailem visited the Japanese-Egyptian Institutes Project Unit affiliated with the Education Development Fund. He reviewed the project’s scope and the educational model being implemented, which provides advanced educational and training programs aimed at preparing qualified personnel to meet labor market needs and development requirements.
During their discussions, Dr. Rasha Saad Sharaf praised the new direction of the Egyptian Awqaf Authority towards maximizing benefits from endowment assets. She emphasized that this approach represents an important developmental model that ensures the preservation and management of endowments according to an investment vision that safeguards assets, maximizes returns, and contributes to building human capital in Egypt.
In a press statement issued by the fund, she noted that expansive areas of cooperation between the authority and the fund aim to create a sustainable societal impact. This collaboration is expected to open new horizons for establishing quality educational projects that enhance education quality and provide greater learning and training opportunities. She expressed her welcome towards collaborative ideas with the authority to study initiatives and projects that achieve mutual benefits and serve Egypt’s objectives.
For his part, Major General Wiam Suwailem expressed his appreciation for the efforts made by the Education Development Fund in developing innovative educational models. He reaffirmed that the Egyptian Awqaf Authority is committed to enhancing its role in supporting developmental sectors, particularly education.
He added that the authority is open to thoroughly studying ideas and projects aimed at protecting endowment assets while maximizing their resources for projects with sustainable developmental impacts, especially in education due to its crucial role in human development and supporting progress. He expressed hope for strengthening cooperation with the Education Development Fund to launch new educational projects that add value to Egyptian society.
At the conclusion of their visit, both parties agreed to continue coordinating efforts and further studying future collaboration opportunities, enhancing utilization of available resources from both sides to support and develop education in Egypt.
