Yasser Ibrahim, defender for the Egyptian national team, expressed the players’ ambitious goals as they participate in the 2026 World Cup. He emphasized that the team is not just there to take part but aims to achieve results that reflect the stature of Egyptian football.

In a recent television interview, Ibrahim shared his hopes of seeing Egypt among the top four teams in the tournament when asked about his predictions for the semi-final contenders.

“I expect Spain, Brazil, and Argentina to reach the semi-finals, and God willing, Egypt will be among them,” he stated.

The national team’s defender underscored that all players are aware of the significant responsibility they carry. He affirmed that the squad possesses both the desire and determination to deliver strong performances throughout the tournament.

“We did not qualify for the World Cup to be mere guests or just to participate; we have great ambitions and hope for positive outcomes. We will do everything we can to deliver a performance worthy of Egypt and its fans,” he added.

On a different note, Ibrahim revealed his past support for the Italian national team, expressing admiration for their renowned defensive style over the years. He also expressed disappointment over Italy’s absence from this year’s World Cup.

Egypt began its 2026 World Cup journey with a 1-1 draw against Belgium in their opening match within Group G, which also includes New Zealand and Iran.
