Yasser Ibrahim, defender for Al Ahly and the Egyptian national team, discussed the Pharaohs’ preparations for their upcoming match against Belgium in the 2026 World Cup.

The Egyptian team is set to face Belgium on Monday evening, marking the start of their group stage campaign in the tournament. The match will kick off at 10 PM local time in Cairo and Saudi Arabia.

In statements made to ON Sport, Ibrahim remarked, “The opening match against a strong and ranked team is crucial. We are working with coach Hossam Hassan to analyze their strengths and weaknesses.”.

He added, “The dream of participating in the World Cup is a goal for every player. Egypt has not appeared often in the tournament, so being present in this edition is a significant achievement.”.

Ibrahim continued, “While I can’t discuss specific tactics, we have studied Belgium thoroughly and understand their strengths. We aim to deliver a positive performance, God willing.”.

He further emphasized, “Coach Hossam Hassan has reminded us that we are a great team with a rich history and name. We respect Belgium, but we share similar values and ambitions.”.

Concluding his remarks, he stated, “We benefit greatly from having Mohamed Salah with us; he helps us understand our opponents better and shares his insights on their playing style.”.
