Egypt’s Ministry of Awqaf Opens 16 New Mosques Across 10 Governorates

The Egyptian Ministry of Awqaf announced the inauguration of several new mosques on Friday, June 19, 2026, as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance places of worship across the nation.

On its official Facebook page, the ministry revealed that it has opened 16 new mosques. This includes the construction of one new mosque, the renovation and renewal of 11 mosques, and maintenance and development work on four others.

Since July 1, 2025, a total of 1,175 mosques have been inaugurated, with 900 either newly constructed or renovated and an additional 275 undergoing maintenance and development.

The ministry further noted that from July 2014 to date, a total of 14,664 mosques have been renovated or maintained at an estimated cost of approximately EGP 27.982 billion.

Dakahlia Governorate: Renovation and renewal of Sheikh Khalil Mosque in Damira village – Talkha Center.

Beheira Governorate: Renovation and renewal of Azbat Al-Jamal Mosque in Al-Riko village – Hosh Eissa Center; Azbat Kash’ama Mosque in Al-Basalkoun village – Kafr El-Dawar Center; Al-Haybi Qibli Mosque in Bouline village – Kafr El-Dawar Center. Maintenance and development work on Al-Noor Mosque in Al-Iman village (T) – Badr Center.

Sharqia Governorate: Renovation and renewal of Azbat Al-Hayawaniya Mosque in Akyaad village – Faqous Center; Salam Mosque in Azbat Bata in Al-Munir village – Mishtool Souq Center.

Beni Suef Governorate: Renovation and renewal of Al-Rahma Mosque in Ramzy Azbat – Ihnasia Center.

Giza Governorate: Renovation and renewal of Al-Amiriya Mosque in Al-Amiriya village – Al-Ayyat Center. Maintenance and development work on Tawheed Mosque in Saqqara village – Badrashin Center.

Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate: Renovation and renewal of Tawba Mosque in Al-Islah Qibli village – Fowa Center.

Gharbia Governorate: Renovation and renewal of Abu Al-Makarem Mosque in Farsetaq village – Basyoun Center.

Fayoum Governorate: Renovation and renewal of Noor Mosque in Tatun village – Itsa Center.

Suhaj Governorate: Construction and establishment of Hassan Mosque in Naj’ al-Asara village – Awlad Yahya Bahri – Dar al-Salam Center. Maintenance and development work on Abu Ayad Mosque in Juhaina al-Gharbiya – Juhaina Center.

Matrouh Governorate: Maintenance and development work on Ikhlas Mosque in Al-Mathani village – Matrouh City.
