Egypt’s Prime Minister Reviews Preparations for Phase Two of ‘Decent Life’ Initiative

Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Egypt’s Prime Minister, continued today to oversee preparations for the implementation of phase two of the presidential initiative “Decent Life,” aimed at developing rural villages across Egypt. This was discussed during a meeting attended by Eng. Randa El-Manshawy, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities; Eng. Ahmed Imran, Deputy Minister of Housing for Utilities; Major General Walid Aref, Head of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority; Eng. Ahmed Abdel Azim, Director of “Dar Engineering,” the project consultant; along with ministry and engineering authority officials.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Prime Minister confirmed that the state has already begun taking necessary steps to launch phase two of the “Decent Life” initiative, in line with directives from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. This phase aims to continue the comprehensive development efforts initiated by the state to improve quality of life in rural areas and build upon the successes achieved during phase one.

The second phase will encompass integrated development projects across 1,667 villages distributed over 59 centers in 20 governorates nationwide. The targeted number of projects in this phase is nearly 21,000 across various service and developmental sectors.

Eng. Randa El-Manshawy noted that this phase represents a new step towards expanding the benefits of the “Decent Life” initiative to include more villages and rural communities, which will enhance the state’s efforts to improve essential services and upgrade infrastructure while supporting human and economic development goals in targeted governorates.

During the meeting, Eng. Ahmed Abdel Azim presented mechanisms for initiating phase two, focusing on ensuring complete readiness before commencing work. This includes precise project scope definition, securing required land, enhancing reliance on local products, utilizing specialized personnel and consultants, and implementing a comprehensive unified procurement system while monitoring execution rates and expenditures according to set timelines.

The meeting also reviewed targets and preparations for phase two of the “Decent Life” initiative which includes projects in sanitation and water supply, natural gas distribution, telecommunications, as well as health units and medical centers within a comprehensive health insurance system alongside educational facilities.

It was emphasized during the meeting that the “Decent Life” initiative plays a crucial role in developing Egyptian rural villages through various developmental and social projects aimed at improving service quality provided to citizens in these areas across multiple sectors.

In conclusion, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly directed that all necessary technical, operational, and logistical preparations be completed promptly to ensure immediate launch of targeted projects under phase two of the “Decent Life” initiative according to specified timelines. He stressed the importance of building on successes achieved during phase one while leveraging accumulated experiences and lessons learned to overcome potential challenges. He reaffirmed the state’s commitment to maximizing reliance on local products and localizing industries associated with service and development projects to support national economic growth and enhance project execution efficiency across various sectors.
