Luka Vuskovic Seeks Exit from Tottenham Amid Brighton Interest

Written byFerdous Saeed

Luka Vuskovic, who has been linked with Brighton & Hove Albion, is reportedly eager to leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

The 19-year-old defender was officially signed by Spurs last summer for £12 million in a deal arranged with Hajduk Split.

After the transfer, Vuskovic was loaned to Hamburg in Germany, where he made a significant impact in 28 Bundesliga appearances.

During his time at Hamburg, he contributed six goals to the team’s offense and earned a place in the Bundesliga Team of the Season due to his strong defensive performances.

Now set to return to Spurs ahead of Roberto De Zerbi’s first full season as head coach, Vuskovic’s future at the club remains uncertain as the summer transfer window approaches.

Vuskovic’s Push for Departure

The young defender has emerged as a target for Brighton, who previously submitted a £35 million bid that was unsuccessful. Reports suggest that Brighton may return with an improved offer.

According to journalist Alex Crook, Vuskovic is ‘pushing to leave’ Tottenham for two primary reasons.

First, he is concerned about his chances of securing regular playing time if he stays in north London for the 2026-27 season. The arrival of Marcos Senesi and the potential recruitment of Jan Paul van Hecke from Brighton have intensified these worries.

Additionally, Vuskovic is dissatisfied with the possibility of being loaned out again for a second consecutive season. Consequently, he seems to be prioritizing a permanent move this summer, despite being contracted until 2030.

Potential Regrets for Spurs

The future of Vuskovic may hinge on whether Tottenham decides to sell either Cristian Romero or Micky van de Ven, both of whom have been linked with moves away this summer.

Even if one or both players depart, it is likely that Van Hecke and Senesi would be prioritized over Vuskovic in terms of playing time. This could hinder his ability to secure regular minutes on the pitch, especially without European competition this season.

However, Spurs might hesitate to part ways with Vuskovic only to see him flourish into a top defender elsewhere. To mitigate this risk, they could consider including a buyback clause in any potential sale.
